Bennu

Bennu
   The sacred bird of the Egyptians which periodically was re-created by flame, a story which came to western Europe as that of the phoenix. As an emblem of the resurrection it was sacred to Osiris, but was also known as the head of Ra. The hieroglyph of the Bennu was one meaning ‘water’ or ‘flood’, indicating a link with a flood legend.
